The Y offers numerous college internships for nearly all majors:

DEVELOPMENT

Required Education Level: College Junior or Senior working towards Finance, Mass Communications, Business Administration or related degrees

Position Description:
The development intern will gain experience in design and implementation of annual campaign, assist with fundraising and development efforts, aid in special event planning and work on a special project determined by intern supervisor.


FINANCE

Required Education Level: College Junior or Senior working towards Finance, Accounting or related degrees

Position Description:
The finance intern will experience non-profit accounting practices, assist with reconciling accounts, aid in fundraising efforts and work on a special project determined by intern supervisor.


MARKETING

Required Education Level: College Junior or Senior working towards Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, Graphic Design or related degrees

Position Description:
The marketing intern will experience multiple marketing and media opportunities, assist with development and distribution of marketing materials, aid in special event planning and work on a special project determined by intern supervisor.


NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT

Required Education Level: College Junior or Senior working towards Business Administration, Finance, Mass Communications or related degrees

Position Description:
The non-profit management intern will gain experience in a variety of YMCA program and operation areas. Assist with fundraising and development efforts, aid in special event planning and work on a special project determined by intern supervisor.


SPORTS & RECREATION

Required Education Level: College Junior or Senior working towards Sports Administration, Athletic Training, Exercise Science or related degrees

Position Description:
The sports and recreation intern will experience applicable seasonal sports programming at the Y, assist with Playerspace, aid in volunteer coach practices and work on a special project determined by intern supervisor.


WELLBEING & HEALTH

Required Education Level: College Junior or Senior working towards Recreation, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Sports Administration or related degrees

Position Description:
The wellness intern will experience multiple wellness program offerings, assist with employee wellness programming, shadow wellness staff and work on a special project determined by intern supervisor.


 

The following information applies to ALL internships:

Required Commitment: 200 – 600 hours

Compensation: Unpaid

Skills and Qualifications:
The YMCA intern must possess good communications skills (both oral and written) and should have an ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. The YMCA intern must have the ability to relate to staff in a positive, professional manner. He or she must also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of his or her work with the Y.

Overall:

Experience opportunities for personal and professional growth through hands-on learning experiences and appropriate training experiences

Perform duties for the YMCA as assigned

Uphold and exemplify the principles of the YMCA, including caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Responsible for strict adherence to all YMCA policies and procedures related to safety and conduct rules and other regulations
