Active Older Adults
STAY YOUNG FOREVER
To help Active Older Adults (AOAs) take greater control of their overall health, the Y encourages low-impact physical activity and offers a social atmosphere for our seniors to meet and stay connected.
The AOAs might be the most vibrant group within the Y community with their focus on friends, fitness and fun!
Our AOA schedule includes land-based and aqua aerobics classes:
Get ready, get set, get wet! This mid intensity class combines 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of strength and 20 minutes of flexibility and balance work into one great class.
Shallow water moves are used to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Strength, balance and coordination will be challenged in this beginner water aerobics class.
A great way to stay active and make new friends! Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, balance, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic band and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. Our energetic instructors will guide you through each exercise that you can complete at your own pace.
Note: SilverSneakers class has scheduled periodic breaks throughout the year when no class will be held.
