Best Summer Ever

We cannot believe how incredibly fast the summer passed, but we are amazed by the growth of our summer campers. 2016 was again a record year for Y Summer Camp enrollment.

195 soon-to-be Kindergarten – 6th graders learned and grew so much in social skills, leadership, athletic development, academic achievement and ethics.

Nearly 20% of Campers were able to attend Y Summer Camp this year thanks to scholarships provided by funding from generous donors and the United Way of Siouxland. We thank you all for the support!

They not only experienced eight weeks absolutely full of activities (field trips, sports, STEAM experiments & projects, swimming), but Y Summer Campers also made great academic advancements in stopping summer learning loss:

*95% maintained or improved reading levels (vocabulary, comprehension, phonics, etc.).
*94% maintained or improved math skills (operations, numbers, algebraic thinking, data measurement, geometry).

*Campers completed more than 2,600 math lessons and 2,200 reading lessons.
*Campers logged 39,000 hours of physical activity.

Kudos to all campers, parents, families, staff and supporters for another fantastic summer with the Y!

We really enjoyed every opportunity to get to know all campers as they learned and grew this summer. It is very inspiring and rewarding to know that we exceeded our goals in helping these kids stay active, safe, healthy and engaged all summer.

It was an epic adventure and we hope all 195 kids experienced the Best Summer Ever!

Thank you,

Y Summer Camp Director
