Specialty Camps

Specialty Camps

Keep your child happy, healthy, active and having fun all summer long at the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA during our specialty sports camps and leagues! Your child can enjoy a variety of programs from building agility fundamentals in our Accelerate program to learning about dodgeball, basketball, cardboard boat races, and more.

CAMP IMAGINARIUM2

At Camp Imaginarium, we believe in hands-on learning adventures that unleash a child’s imagination! This camp is centered on STEM! What is STEM you ask? Science, technology, engineering, math and so much more! Kids will build new friendships as they experience interactive activities, learn how things work by taking apart mechanical objects, creating new inventions themselves, dabbling in technology, and even taking field trips around Siouxland. Our goal is that kids leave Camp Imaginarium with new skills, new passions, and the confidence to take risks and try new ideas!

Campers must bring a sack lunch (morning and afternoon snack provided), water bottle, swimsuit/towel, and their imaginations!

Y SUMMER PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP

This is a full immersion photography camp; it will involve: how to work with digital cameras, composition, photo art projects, how to make DIY photography equipment/tools, and more! We will explore many styles of photography, ranging from landscape to portraits; outdoor to studio; artistic to business professional. We will emphasize teaching how to use the equipment, and guiding your child’s creativity through the lens. We will also have multiple experts and professionals come to give tips and insights!

Each day will have a particular lesson in photography followed by an application of those rules and skills. The different styles of photography will be explored so that no day is the same as the last. Throughout the week, these lessons will build on each other and by the end of the week, your child will have the framework to be able to begin independently growing and learning to become a great photographer!
